Lamb with Cumin

DSC_0695There’s a famous (to foodies) Chinese restaurant in Washington, DC called Panda Gourmet. It sounds like some sort of tacky crappy restaurant right? Like Panda Express? Further adding to your judgment of its cover, it’s attached to a Days Inn. It couldn’t be good right?

Wrong.

It’s authentic and delicious menu makes it one of the best places in the DC area to gorge on the glory that is Sichuan cuisine. I had high hopes that it would become my new favorite Chinese restaurant, but, while still great, it does not compare to Great Wall Sichuan House or Szechuan Pavilion.

My favorite thing that we ordered (and we ordered a lot) was the very last thing to come out. It was this fragrant and shamelessly flavorful Lamb with Cumin.

It instantly transported me back to the Guangzhou (which is not in Sichuan) waterfront, where I devoured several cumin-y lamb skewers in mere seconds. Highly recommend if just for this dish.
